About Me
|
As a kid I used to walk to a nearby field and lay down in the tall grass, look at the clouds and daydream for hours. When I was in grade school one of my teachers called my parents once and told them I had a problem with daydreaming and was not paying attention in school.
Even today when I watch a television program I think about how I would have changed the ending or I sometimes play out in my mind several different plots that could have taken place. The same goes for watching movies where I often think about how the writers could have led you down a completly different path.
After growing up reading Louis L’Amour Western novels, later on I started reading James Patterson, John Grisham and David Baldacci novels. I would often think how I would have changed the plot or ended it differently. It wasn’t because I didn’t like the plot or ending it’s just the way my mind works from as far back as I can remember.
Then, one day I asked myself that question that only a few of us ever ask ourselves. If you could do anything in life you really wanted to do, what would you do? My answer was, I wanted to be a writer and use my active imagination to create wonderful stories because it’s something that I really enjoy.
So I decided that I would take fiction writing classes and enrolled at Cal State Fullerton. Two years later I got a fiction writing certificate which just means I took every class they offered in fiction writing. It was an experience to say the least and I quickly found out that everyone has a wide variety of writing styles.
I started producing short stories and all day long at work I would think about how the plots and endings would all come together to make a good story. I filled notepads with ideas and even sayings I liked. I love to produce short stories because it’s really the way I exercise my imagination. They make great novel warm ups because they are just quick mini plots. Kind of like doing stretching exercises before a work out.
I had an idea for a fiction novel and sat down one day and started typing on my keyboard. I wrote this story like I was watching a movie and it unfolded before my eyes just like I was in the audience. The thoughts just kept coming to me as I hit the keys and I knew one day I would have to end it.
I actually missed the characters once I did finish but now I have started on another novel so I get to do it all over again. I get goosebumps just thinking about creating another new story and the characters that will make it come to life.
Writing is what I really love to do, and if you ever read one of my novels or short stories, I only hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
